What types of establishments need to be registered?

Any movement/organization/association that contains a minimum of 7 people regardless of any type or purpose, whether temporary or permanent must register its organization.

However, if it has other specific acts/laws, it does not need to be registered under this Department. For example, youth organizations need to be registered under the Youth Organizations and Youth Development Act 1997, and other relevant acts.

What is meant by organizational records?

Each registered organization must prepare, store and maintain the records of the organization in accordance with the provisions of its constitution in a neat, orderly and accessible, namely:

  1. Constitution;
  2. Member list book;
  3. Member fee book;
  4. Cash book / journal / general ledger / subsidiary ledger;
  5. Receipt book / payment voucher;
  6. Bank account statement;
  7. Minutes of committee meetings and AGM / EGM;
  8. Letters received / sent;
  9. Annual statement report (eroses); and
  10. Other documents related to the organization
